Everywhere Displays (2002-2003)

I spent two summers working as an intern with the Everywhere Displays group at IBM Research. From the project home page: “The Everywhere Displays project aims to develop systems that allow the transformation of every surface in a space into a projected ‘touch screen.'”

During my first summer with the group, I assisted in developing a Java-based programming framework that enables developers to quickly prototype and deploy ED-aware applications. In my second summer, I designed and ran a “Wizard of Oz”-style study to help understand how novice users intuitively interact with projected objects in an augmented workplace environment. This study was intended to inform further research into the development of computer vision-based methods for tracking interactions in a projected environment.
